Microsoft is rolling out a Windows 11 preview update, KB5127936, that adds a "customize menu" button to the right-click menu. Users can toggle built-in commands such as Send To and Create Shortcut, rearrange items on the main menu, and choose which third-party extensions appear in the main menu or submenus. The source says the update covers Windows 11 versions 26H2 and 25H2, will roll out gradually, and will reach all Windows 11 devices once it becomes generally available.

The update also introduces Cloud Rebuild, a recovery option that reinstalls Windows 11 from the cloud when a PC fails to boot. According to the report, Cloud Rebuild pulls the Windows 11 image and needed drivers from Windows Update, so users do not need a custom recovery image or external media. The report notes that Microsoft calls it a recovery option, but it works more like a fresh install than a repair, and existing applications and files are not included.

The update arrived alongside Microsoft's quarterly earnings report. CFO Amy Hood said Windows OEM revenue "was below expectations and decreased 27% and 28% in constant currency," citing the prior year's Windows 10 end-of-support demand, inventory drawdowns by OEM and channel partners, and weaker PC market demand. The broader Windows OEM and devices category, which includes Surface, fell 22 percent, according to the earnings release. Hood said, "we expect these trends to continue through the rest of the fiscal year."

The report says Azure revenue rose 48 percent and Microsoft Cloud revenue rose 30 percent year over year. Microsoft Cloud now accounts for roughly 70 percent of the company's $92.3 billion total quarterly revenue.
