Samsung has upgraded the sleep apnea tracking on its Galaxy Watches with a new AI algorithm. The update provides hourly insight into breathing disorders, where earlier versions only indicated whether a user had sleep apnea. According to ZDNET, Samsung says results are sorted into three stages: mild, occasional, and frequent.
Users need to record two nights of sleep within a 10-day period to get details about their condition. The source describes the feature as FDA-cleared. It will first arrive on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Watch 9, and Ring, with Galaxy Watch 7 and 8 to follow through future software updates.
The feature will launch in Korea first, starting in November. Samsung has not confirmed a date for US availability. The source notes that the Galaxy Watch cannot help with treatment of a diagnosed sleep apnea.
