Apple rolled out four new Audio Intelligence features into testing with the first developer beta versions of iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3 on Tuesday. The betas are for Apple Watch Series 12 wearers.

The features detect important sounds, identify songs, catch up on conversations, and take notes. Two of them, Live Rewind and Siri Recaps, record and then transcribe or summarize conversations around the wearer. Live Rewind lets users go back to see what was said in the past 15 seconds. Siri Recaps summarize audio throughout the day and save notes on important things said.

Apple says it processes audio and runs AI models on-device when possible. It also says it does not identify speakers or store raw audio files, and that it redacts private information such as government ID numbers and personal account details.

The reviewer, who tested Siri Recaps for a day, said the feature captured key details from verbal exchanges at a car repair shop and a rental counter, including a deductible, a repair time frame, and the rental's starting fuel level. The reviewer also said the feature mixed those notes with household scheduling, and that it captured non-essential remarks about watching midterm coverage on TV. The reviewer suggested Apple save unrelated details as separate notes, add a swipe-to-delete gesture for individual bullet points, and offer an option to export saved recaps to the Notes app automatically.
